Stillman’s Essential Books About Hollywood

A week ago the Wall Street Journal featured an article by Whit Stillman in which he lists five “essential books about Hollywood.” He writes more about them there, but for future reference the books are:

The Genius of the System by Thomas Schatz (1988)
The Parade’s Gone By… by Kevin Brownlow (1968)
When the Shooting Stops … the Cutting Begins by Ralph Rosenblum and Robert Karen (1979)
Between Flops by James Curtis (1982)
Hitchcock by François Truffaut (1967)
